Moving Forward...

Thank you so much for all your well-wishes with our journey to adopt. We are actually almost finished with all the paperwork and have scheduled the date for our Home Study. This is all so new for us and I have been trying my best to read as much information as I can about adoption. A friend of mine sent me this book...

...and it has given me a wealth of information on adoption. So if you have any other awesome books, articles, or sites that you think would help us, please recommend them in your comments!!

We have also decided to speak to another RE, for a third opinion, about what other options we may have for getting pregnant. His office offers several IVF's with a lower cost to the patients. We will be meeting with him next week and look foward to hearing what ideas, tests, and plans he recommends for us.

Please keep us in your prayers and ask God to continue to move us forward and into parenthood.

Not sure if I have written this info for you before, but you may want to ask the doctor about Gonal-F and Ovidril or medications like them. These are the shots that I used to get pregnant BOTH times (and we hope for a 3rd time next year). With these shots, it prepares your body for ovulation and then pushes your body to ovulation. These are simmilar if not the same drugs that they use to prepare your body for IVF only you do the "implant" at home the old fashioned way with your husband ;-)

Good luck, you are in my prayers. I know how hard this journey to being a mom is, believe me I have traveled this roads you are on and GOD brought the victory over infertility and He will do the same for you whether through your body or adoption.

Daily laying it at the Master's feet!

Lianna,
I just read that you are filling out your paperwork to adopt. I am so happy because there are so many little babies that need a loving home. Many blessings will come your way from this very special baby. I can say this from experience. Please continue on your path to adopt and become pregnant. God has a very special plan for you and your husband.
Love ya! Pam

For some reason your last post never showed on my blogroll! I am so excited for you! Do you know Krysta (her blog is private)? I bet she would have a lot of info. Also, Rebekah on my blogroll is an adoptive mother. Praying for you as always!

I just stumbled across your blog this morning.

What type of adoption are you wanting to pursue? I am a birth mother, to a five year old boy. We have an open adoption and I have had the amazing opportunity of watching him learn and grow. I never dreamed that this would be the role for me, but I am so proud of my adoption plan and so very proud of him and his family. If you are considering an open adoption, I highly recommend, "Life Givers" and "The Open Adoption Experience". If you every have questions or need advice/support, please contact me.

I was adopted as a baby, so it has a special place in my heart :) We've had many friends who have gone through the process and one, who recently returned from China with her 1 year old daughter! I also have a couple of friends who have been helped becoming pregnant by an acupuncturist. Sounds crazy, but have you tried any alternative therapies?

I just read you are taking the steps to adopt. I have read the book that you are reading! It is very helpful and informative. It really does help you decide if adoption is right for you and it is very straight forward about adoption. It really tells you the cold hard facts about the ups and downs to adoption. My husband and I made the decision in April this year to begin the Foster to Adopt route. We contacted our local DHS and started the classes. We got our certification, had our home study done, filled out all the paper work, then a few short days later we got a call to foster two little boys a 10m and a 2 y/o little boy. It was an emergency placement. We went into it hoping we could get a foster placement then have the rights of the parents terminated and adopt the baby to be ours. The children went back to where ever a week later it tore me to pieces. My husband and I decided no more fostering its too emotionally difficult when all we want is a family. So we removed our names off the foster care list and had our study converted to adoption only. So we are now in the matching process. We went to our first adoption party yesterday which didn't go so well I blogged about it if you would like to know more. But we are in the second month of matching waiting to find out if we have been matched so we will see. But due to the fact we want an infant or a toddler it could take us years to be matched and placed for adoption. I can tell you from our experiences adoption can be a beautiful, exciting thing (my mom was adopted to my grandparents at 4m old after they went through 5 years of infertility back in the 50's through DHS-they waited over 3 years with DHS to get that call) but there will be a lot of discouraging moments so try to keep the faith and do not let them get you down. Rant a little about your frustrations then remind yourself it WILL happen its only a matter of finding YOUR baby! He or she is out there (or will be) its only a matter of when the right moment comes that your path crosses your childs! :0) I'll be praying for you-good luck and keep us posted!!

I wish you the best with the new part of your journey to motherhood. I also have taken this journey and it is a very rewarding one. We went the foster to adopt route (started out adoption only but God had different plans for us than we had for ourselves at the time). We adopted our little princess a little over a year ago (she was placed with us directly out of the hospital and has been our little girl ever since). She will be two in a couple of weeks. We are now in the process of fostering a little one who is seven months old now. He has been with us since he was two weeks old. We hope and pray that it is HIS plan for this little one to be our forever child as well. We have had some ups and downs in our process but wouldn't change a single one of them .... thoughts and prayers your way as you move a step closer to your little one who is waiting....
